Can I use this quiz without a device for every student?
Yes. Read the questions aloud or display this guide, and have students answer on paper. The classroom activity works separately from the GeoCapitals iPhone and iPad app.
For teachers
A useful geography warm-up gives every student a chance to recall something, check it, and correct a mistake. Use the questions below as a short classroom activity, then adapt the difficulty to your lesson. GeoCapitals can complement this routine with individual practice on iPhone and iPad.
Need a full worksheet? Use the free geography quiz generator to choose a continent, question count, difficulty, direction, and age band. Print the student quiz and teacher answer key separately.
Ask students to answer independently on paper before discussing in pairs. These examples practise country and capital recall; replace any countries that sit outside your current topic.
Answer key: 1. Accra. 2. Kenya. 3. Dakar. 4. Ghana. 5. Senegal. Country and capital references: Ghana, Kenya, and Senegal from the United Nations.
This timing is a planning suggestion. Give more time for reading, pronunciation, or map work when your class needs it.
For beginners, offer a small word bank or read the country names aloud. For more confident students, remove the answer choices, reverse the country-capital prompts, or require a written spelling. Pair a name question with map placement when location is part of the learning objective.
Avoid making speed the only measure of success. Ask what changed between the first answer and the correction. A student who can explain a mix-up gives you a clearer teaching signal than a total score alone.
Choose two prompts from today and combine them with new material next time. Let students attempt an answer before opening their notes, then correct it. This follows the broad principles in AERO’s spacing and retrieval practice guidance; the sample quiz itself is an original classroom activity.
For printable references, use our African capitals study sheet or European capitals study sheet. Your curriculum determines the required coverage and accepted answers.
Students with access to an iPhone or iPad can use GeoCapitals for capital, flag, and map practice. Plan the classroom activity around your own instructions and answer sheet; this routine does not depend on a shared digital scoreboard or an assignment dashboard. Check available modes and school device arrangements before setting app-based homework.
For a student-facing follow-up, share the capitals exam revision plan.
Yes. Read the questions aloud or display this guide, and have students answer on paper. The classroom activity works separately from the GeoCapitals iPhone and iPad app.
It is a sample warm-up, not a formal assessment or a claim of curriculum alignment. Adapt the countries, question formats, and marking to your class.
Start a lesson with five questions, then repeat two of the same pairs at the end. For a partner activity, ask students to compare answers and explain their corrections. For a written practice test, remove answer choices and keep the key separate until students have attempted every question.
The free geography quiz generator creates a world capitals worksheet or regional quiz with a separate answer key. Choose Capital → Country, Country → Capital, or mixed directions. Easy gives two choices, Medium four, and Hard asks for written recall. Age settings change instructions and spacing.
Try your example: Europe, 20 questions, Medium, Capital → Country, ages 12–14. Generate, preview, then print the student sheet and teacher key separately. Match the bank to your curriculum before treating the result as an assessment. For another lesson idea, connect each answer to a country on a classroom map.
Practise with GeoCapitals on iPhone and iPad. The download includes limited starter access; most quiz modes and the full Atlas require an optional Pro subscription.
