Free Geography Quiz Generator

Turn a geography warm-up into a worksheet in a few clicks. Choose your region, question count, answer format, and age band. Generate a countries-and-capitals quiz, then print the student sheet and answer key separately.

Make it fit your class.

Europe includes 44 country pairs. Generate up to the number available, with no repeated countries.

Difficulty changes answer support, not the country pool. Age changes instructions and writing space; choose settings for your learners rather than treating an age band as an assessment standard.

A printable capitals test to try now

This five-question European sample works without the generator. Write the country for each capital: Paris, Berlin, Rome, Madrid, and Lisbon. Cover the key while students answer, then ask them to reverse two pairs as an exit question.

Teacher answer key for the sample
  1. Paris → France
  2. Berlin → Germany
  3. Rome → Italy
  4. Madrid → Spain
  5. Lisbon → Portugal

The interactive generator keeps the student sheet separate from its answer key. Use the PDF download buttons for the designed worksheet. You can also choose Print from browser to use your printer’s own settings. Manual printing defaults to the student quiz when one has been generated.

Three ways to use your classroom geography quiz

  • Warm-up: generate five questions, allow a quiet individual attempt, then discuss corrections.
  • Partner activity: generate a short quiz and ask students to explain their choices before checking the key.
  • Practice test: choose written recall, collect a first attempt, then return the answer key for corrections.

Keep your curriculum in charge of coverage and marking. Use the teacher lesson guide for differentiation ideas, or send older students to the Capital Exam Trainer to organize independent revision.

What the question bank covers

The generator uses a curated bank of country-capital pairs, not an AI service. World combines the included regional sets. Asia is a selected practice set of 20 countries; Oceania includes 13 pairs and leaves out Nauru, which has no official capital. Smaller pools limit the question count instead of repeating countries.

Europe uses the 44-country set in our European reference. Africa uses the 54-country study set. North America includes Central America and the Caribbean; South America has 12 pairs. These classroom groupings are a declared study convention, not a universal definition of continents.

Check names with the UN geographical names reference. Special questions identify Bern as Switzerland’s federal city, Sucre as Bolivia’s constitutional capital, and the administrative capitals of South Africa and Eswatini. Equatorial Guinea uses Ciudad de la Paz, as documented in the African guide. Bank reviewed 22 September 2026.
